Chapter 1 – Into the Twilight Labyrinth
The Twilight Labyrinth.
It’s a massive dungeon in the outskirts of the Kingdom of Runegalia, where it was theorized that our current magic civilization was developed and originated there.
Also, it was considered as the most dangerous dungeon in the world.
It is a vast underground labyrinth built during the time of the High Ancient Civilization, the prehistoric civilization of this world.
According to legend, those who reach the deepest part of this dungeon will gain great power.
However, this is not a place where you can gain power just that easily.
Since its discovery three hundred years ago, many adventurers have tried to reach its end, but no one has ever made it through.
“A mighty force……?”
I remembered my first fight with the dark elf Redone.
If you simply look at the power of magic sword techniques, I think Redone and I are about the same level.
However, he has another trump card, this spellcraft he so calls Mirage Mode.
After the battle, Milfa told me that this was initially innate magic developed by the elders of the elven race.
It has two main features.
The first is to shorten significantly the speed at which a magic spell is activated.
The second is to significantly increase the defense against magical attacks in general.
The former is particularly troublesome.
If the power of our attacks is about the same, Redone’s ability to activate it faster is already enough to give me a considerable disadvantage.
In fact, I was tormented by that difference in my first encounter with him.
I was able to fight back because Sylvia, who was with me, supported me, but I don’t think it will go that well next time.
There’s no way to make up the difference now by training. We lack time.
That’s why I decided to look for a way to beat Redone by going to the Twilight Labyrinth.
“I have one week left.”
After that, Redone will commence his all-out attack, which may result to the end the world.
I have to break through this labyrinth to make myself stronger at all costs.
“Sir Lian, please let us accompany you.” If you are a ble to re ad this mess age, you are readi ng from an unaut hori zed aggre gate site. Read a t my Word Pr ess to supp ort me and m y translatio ns.
As I was making up my mind, Mina stepped in front of me.
“I don’t want to be separated from you again like the last time.”
While I was at the S-class certification ceremony, Mina and the others had to fight Sweepers and a Nova type on their own.
While at it, I too ended up on the same way, even meeting the boss of them all, which is Redone.
If we leave for the Twilight Labyrinth this time, we will be separated again for a while.
However, the place we’re going to is also dubbed as the most dangerous labyrinth.
Naturally, the perils we encounter will increase.
“I’ll go with you, too.”
“I also want to help Lian.”
Mary and even Ingrid as well. They voiced their requests beside Mina.
I’m grateful for their feelings.
“No, you three stay here.”
I made my decision.
“Redone said he’d be attacking in a week, but……that doesn’t mean he’ll follow through on his word. We also need someone who’ll defend this town.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be right back.”
I spoke at Mina and the others with my usual fresh, beautiful elf smile.
“It’s not like we’re saying goodbye forever. We’re just leaving for a while.”
I spoke with deliberate ease.
Yes, we’re just leaving temporarily.
There shouldn’t be anything to worry about…
And so, I came with Felix, Claudia, and Georg to the forest on the outskirts of Runegalia.
Our means of transportation was the same dragon we used to return from the guild headquarters.
An eerie old woman in a hood and robe came to meet us upon arrival.
She was our local guide, or so they said.
Under her guidance, we made our way through the forest.
After a while, we came across a small stone temple.
It was a small building, but I was told that there’s a vast labyrinth underneath.
“It’s in here.” This ch ap ter tran slati on is made p ossi ble by stabb in g with a syri nge tr ansla tions. check up -to -date tran slatio ns on my Wor dpre ss site.
We followed the old woman’s lead and entered the temple, where we found a staircase leading to the basement.
Suddenly, I felt a chill run through me.
What is this feeling……?
“What’s wrong, elf kid?”
The old woman asks.
I didn’t answer but looked around.
There was nothing in particular that looked like a trap.
There’s no sign of monsters either.
But there was something unpleasant about it……I can feel it.
A feeling that ‘s enough to make my whole body hair stand on end.
“Lian, what’s wrong?”
Seeing me in disorder, Claudia also asked.
“No, it’s nothing.”
I shook my head.
There’s something about this labyrinth that makes me shiver……but what is it?
Still, I had to go on.
In order to fight Redone.
In order to gain that power.
“Anyway, Let’s move on.”
Felix, Claudia, and Georg nodded at my words, and the exploration of the labyrinth once again continued.
